FACE success

The Rose & Crown's children's Halloween Disco on 28th October  helped raise over £400 for FACE. Our summer plant sale raised over £1000 and we are looking forward to doing more events soon to  help raise morale and funds for struggling charities.

Recently we have given £1,200 to the South London branch of MNDA which are really struggling to provide help to families facing this terrible diagnosis during lockdown. Since 2020 we've helped The Furzedown Project, the local food bank, Furzedown Youth Group and Penworthan Junior School create an urban garden in their playground.

We now have a contactless card reader - this is available for any local groups or charities to borrow  - please get in touch!

We are always looking for new sponsors, raffle prizes and people to help join the fundraising fun!

Seed funding for Furzedown guerrilla gardeners!

FACE is providing funds for a local gang of guerrilla gardeners who are planning to brighten our local roundabouts.

They will be tackling the main roundabout at the top of Church Lane and around the benches and trees there. We're helping provide compost, wildflower seeds and plants etc which will help bees and wildlife as well as looking lovely. Let us know if you can support them too.

Who we're helping...
  • Our neighbour Gareth died from MND so we're raising money for the local South London Motor Neurone Disease Association that helped him and his family.

  • We are helping The Furzedown Youth Club and supporting their new after-school drop-in initiative. Also paid for a First aid course, indoor activities and bought a vacuum cleaner.

  • Thanks to Furzedown, St George's Hospital  are  providing a special chill-out area for young people undergoing cancer treatment

  • We have helped the local Multiple Sclerosis group set up a special chair-based weekly yoga class in Wandsworth

  • We have provided planters for a local nursery playground, supported an urban garden in Penworthan School and helped Furzedown guerrilla gardeners

  • As well as sponsoring their minibus, we have provided The Furzedown Project with a life-saving defibrillator and media resources to enhance their fitness programmes and community talks plus ongoing support for their website.

  • We have paid to train four specialist swimming volunteers for handicapped children in Wandsworth

  • We supported a half-term cookery course at The Graveney Canteen

  • We also make regular donations to Furzedown Foodbank for items not donated

  • and to Teens Unite.

Thank you...
